My name is Malak, but you’ll find my friends call me Mal.
I was born in southern Egypt in 2006, but grew up in Cairo. I am ethnically Nubian, with Egyptian Arabic being my native tongue and English my fourth language. I am intrigued by language, and hope to learn Chinese within the next few years.
I currently reside in the suburbs of Northern Virginia, and about to graduate high school. With plans to move to Cambridge, Massachusetts for college, I am looking to spend as much time as possible in engineering research before I head off to Georgia Tech in fall 2025.
For as long as I have remembered, I’ve wanted to help children find their full potential and cultivate their passions. It’s why I started the Young Researchers Academy, an online research mentorship program for middle school students. You’ll often find me tutoring math and CAD to students of all ages.
Even though I have a concerning number of hobbies and interests, I hope to zone in on necrobotics as a career. I find incredible potential in this new, blossoming field and I can see it being the solution to catching up lower-developed countries in technological advancement, improving our energy consumption, and decreasing the amount of metal waste we put back into our planet.
